The cross country fields are not grazed by any stock and are maintained for the sole use of competitions, to ensure the best possible going for our competitors. Equivators are used, as necessary, to improve the ground conditions.
The cross country course will only be open for schooling the day after a cross country event is held, subject to ground conditions and at the discretion of West Wilts. The decision to run will be made at mid-day the day before and bookings for time slots can be made over the phone from then on. See the ‘Whats on’ page list for dates and cost.

BRITISH EVENTING EVENT
|
Hard hats and body protectors to current BSI standards are mandatory at all time alone with correct riding attire. All riders must have a person accompanying them in sight of all jumps while riding. Acknowledgement must be made that this is a high risk sport and the rider takes part entirely at their own risk. No specialist medical care will be available on site during the cross country schooling.
Only jumps that are flagged and are part of the course from the previous competition are available to jump and only in the direction they are flagged. Schedules from previous events can be found online with full details of heights and lengths of the courses open.
No attempt should be made to jump an un-flagged or crossed off fence under any circumstances.
The course is designed to be jumped as far as possible as a flowing round rather than spending time at one or two particular fences.
No training is available with the booking of the course, however riders are more then welcome to bring along their own trainer. Consideration should be made for the others on course and riders should move out the way of other riders wanting to overtake.
On arrival all riders must report to the office to pay and collect a number bib which must be worn at all times while mounted. Schooling slots will be available between 10am – 3:55 pm.
